Study Plans let students build their own practice schedules from the question banks you make available. A student picks the content, sets a schedule, and works through generated practice sessions that adapt toward their weaker areas, with streaks and a readiness trend to keep them going. Study Plans live on the Study Plans screen of the front-end dashboard.

Study Plans are deliberately separate from Spaced Repetition. Spaced repetition schedules review of questions students have already met in your quizzes; a study plan is self-directed practice across whatever banks the student chooses. The two systems run side by side and are never combined.

Requirements

• PressPrimer Quiz (free) 3.1.0 or higher, with a designated dashboard page
• PressPrimer Quiz – School 3.1.0 or higher (with Educator active, as always)
• At least one question bank granted practice access (see below)

Granting Practice Access to Banks

Students can only build plans from banks that have been explicitly made available. Every bank starts as Not available for practice. To open a bank up, edit it and find the Practice Access panel, then choose:

• All logged-in students: Any signed-in student can include the bank in a plan.
• Specific groups: Only members of the groups you select can use the bank.

Until an author grants access, students see no banks to choose from, so the feature stays quiet on sites that do not want it.

Creating a Plan

From the Study Plans screen, students click Create Study Plan and work through a four-step wizard:

1. Name: A plan name, plus the Focus on my weak areas option.
2. Content: Which available banks to draw from, with optional category and difficulty filters. Leaving the category filter empty includes every category in the selected banks. A plan needs at least one bank.
3. Schedule: How many days between sessions and an optional end date.
4. Review: A summary of the plan before creating it.

Practice Sessions

When a session is due, the plan shows a Start today’s session button. Sessions draw a fresh set of questions from the plan’s content, and when Focus on my weak areas is on, the selection is weighted toward the categories where the student’s mastery is lowest. Students can also start extra practice sessions outside the schedule whenever they want more.

Each plan tracks a current streak and best streak of completed sessions, and after a few sessions a readiness trend appears so students can see their trajectory.

Students can edit a plan’s content at any time; changes apply to future sessions. Deleting a plan removes the plan and its schedule, while the student’s answer history continues to count toward their mastery.

The Practice Session Page

Practice sessions run on a regular page containing the [pressprimer_quiz_study_session] shortcode. The plugin creates this page automatically the first time it is needed. If you want sessions on a different page, add the shortcode there and select the page under PressPrimer Quiz > Settings > Mastery & Study Plans.

The same settings tab has a Practice Sessions section where you choose the quiz Theme and Display Density used for practice sessions. Saving applies the appearance to all study plans.

Housekeeping

The Mastery & Study Plans tab also includes an Orphaned Practice Data tool that cleans up practice content left behind by deleted plans. If it reports nothing to clean, there is nothing to do.

• Practice session attempts do not count toward grades or quiz statistics.
