The School add-on can import entire LifterLMS quizzes, including their questions, into PressPrimer Quiz. This is useful for migrating from LifterLMS’s built-in quiz system to leverage the additional features and tools that PressPrimer Quiz offers.

This feature requires LifterLMS version 7.0 or higher to be installed and active on the same site.

Starting an Import

From the Settings Page

1. Navigate to PressPrimer Quiz > Settings > Import Quizzes.
2. Choose LifterLMS as the source.
3. Review the list of LifterLMS quizzes, including how many questions each contains and how many can be imported.
4. Select the quizzes you want and start the import. Larger imports run in batches with a progress indicator.

From the LifterLMS Quiz List

You can also start from LifterLMS’s own quiz list. Hover over a quiz and click Import to PressPrimer Quiz, or select several quizzes and use the bulk action of the same name. Either route opens the Import Quizzes tab with your selection ready to import.

What Gets Imported

Each LifterLMS quiz is imported as a new PressPrimer Quiz in Draft status. The following data is migrated:

• Quiz title: Imported with “(Imported)” appended to the name.
• Passing grade: Mapped to the quiz pass percentage.
• Time limit: Preserved if the LifterLMS quiz has one set.
• Attempt limits: Mapped from the LifterLMS attempt settings.
• Question randomization: Mapped from the LifterLMS setting.
• Question text and answer options: Including correct answer identification.
• Question points: Point values are carried over (defaults to 1 if not set in LifterLMS).

Supported Question Types

The importer supports the scorable question types from LifterLMS core:

• Choice: Imported as multiple choice, or as multiple answer when the question has more than one correct option.
• Picture choice: Imported the same way, with the pictures becoming image answers. The images reference the existing files in your media library; nothing is duplicated. Image ownership is registered so the free plugin’s automatic image cleanup never removes a file the original LifterLMS question still uses.
• True/False: Imported as true/false questions.

What Is Not Imported

• Content questions: LifterLMS content “questions” are informational blocks rather than scorable questions, so they are skipped.
• Advanced Quizzes addon types: Question types from the LifterLMS Advanced Quizzes addon (fill in the blank, reorder, picture reorder, short answer, long answer, file upload, code, and scale) are skipped.
• Attempt history: Student results from LifterLMS do not migrate. Imported quizzes start fresh.

Skipped questions are reported: the quiz list shows how many questions in each quiz can be imported, and the import summary reports skipped questions with counts by type, so you know exactly what needs to be recreated manually.

After Import

Imported quizzes are created in Draft status so you can review them before publishing. The import summary shows results for each quiz with direct links to edit them. If a quiz with the same title already exists, the importer adds a number to the title to avoid duplicates (e.g., “My Quiz (Imported) (2)”).

The original LifterLMS quizzes are not modified or deleted during the import process.

Tips

• Review imported quizzes before publishing. Check that answer options, correct answers, and images were mapped correctly.
• If a quiz contains a mix of supported and unsupported question types, the supported questions are imported and the rest are skipped with a per-type count in the summary.
