The School add-on can import entire LearnDash quizzes, including their questions, into PressPrimer Quiz. This is useful for migrating from LearnDash’s built-in quiz system to leverage the additional features and tools that PressPrimer Quiz offers.

This feature requires LearnDash to be installed and active on the same site.

Starting an Import

You can start a LearnDash quiz import from two locations:

From the Settings Page

1. Navigate to PressPrimer Quiz > Settings.
2. Select the Import Quizzes tab and choose LearnDash as the source.
3. The import wizard lists all LearnDash quizzes with the number of importable and skipped questions for each.

4. Select one or more quizzes to import.
5. Click Import Selected to begin.

From the LearnDash Quiz List

1. Navigate to LearnDash LMS > Quizzes.
2. Hover over any quiz and click the Import to PPQ row action, or select multiple quizzes using the checkboxes and choose Import to PressPrimer Quiz from the bulk actions dropdown.
3. You’ll be redirected to the import wizard in PressPrimer Quiz Settings with your selected quizzes pre-loaded.

What Gets Imported

Each LearnDash quiz is imported as a new PressPrimer Quiz in Draft status. The following data is migrated:

• Quiz title — Imported with “(Imported)” appended to the name.
• Quiz description — From the LearnDash quiz’s post content or description field.
• Time limit — Preserved if the LearnDash quiz has one set.
• Question and answer randomization — Both settings are mapped from LearnDash equivalents.
• Question text and answer options — Including correct answer identification.
• Feedback messages — Both correct and incorrect answer feedback, when present.
• Hints — Question hints are imported when enabled in LearnDash.
• Question order — The original question sequence is preserved.
• Question points — Point values are carried over (defaults to 1 if not set in LearnDash).

Supported Question Types

The importer supports these LearnDash question types:

• Single Answer (Multiple Choice) — Imported as PressPrimer Quiz Multiple Choice.
• Multiple Answers — Imported as PressPrimer Quiz Multiple Answer.
• True/False — Automatically detected from Single Answer questions that have exactly two answer options labeled “True” and “False”. Imported as PressPrimer Quiz True/False.

Unsupported Question Types

The following LearnDash question types are skipped during import because PressPrimer Quiz does not support equivalent formats:

• Essay / Open text
• Sorting questions
• Matrix sorting
• Fill-in-the-blank / Cloze
• Assessment questions

The import wizard shows how many questions will be imported and how many will be skipped for each quiz, along with the reason for each skipped question type. A quiz with only unsupported question types cannot be imported.

After Import

Imported quizzes are created in Draft status so you can review them before publishing. The import summary shows results for each quiz with direct links to edit them. If a quiz with the same title already exists, the importer adds a number to the title to avoid duplicates (e.g., “My Quiz (Imported) (2)”).

The original LearnDash quizzes are not modified or deleted during the import process.

Tips

• Review imported quizzes before publishing. Check that answer options, feedback messages, and correct answers were mapped correctly.
• If your LearnDash quizzes contain a mix of supported and unsupported question types, the supported questions will be imported and the unsupported ones will be skipped. You’ll need to recreate the unsupported questions manually if needed.
