Important: Uncanny Automator 6.0 or higher is required.

Uncanny Automator is the best way to connect your WordPress plugins and apps together. (Full disclosure: As the cofounder of Uncanny Owl, the writer of this article is certainly very fond and proud of the plugin! Having said that, PressPrimer is not affiliated with Uncanny Owl nor Uncanny Automator.)

The free version of PressPrimer Quiz adds 4 triggers to Uncanny Automator recipes:

• A user passes a quiz
• A user fails a quiz
• A user completes a quiz (in other words, it will fire regardless of whether the user passes or fails)
• A guest email is captured with marketing consent

The three user triggers (passes, fails, completes) are for Logged-in recipe types only. Recipes using them will only run when users are logged in.

The guest trigger is different: A guest email is captured with marketing consent works in Everyone recipes on both the free version of Uncanny Automator and Automator Pro. It fires when a logged-out visitor enters their email to take a quiz and checks the marketing consent checkbox. Guests who decline consent, or who were never shown the checkbox, never fire the trigger. You can limit the trigger to a specific quiz or use the Any quiz option, and its tokens include the guest’s email, name, the consent date, and quiz details, so consented leads can be routed to any Automator-connected tool.

The consent checkbox is enabled under PressPrimer Quiz > Settings > General in the Guest Email Consent section. See Plugin Settings.

The triggers will work with the free version of Uncanny Automator. Each trigger also supports a full suite of tokens for working with quiz data.

Sample Use Cases

All of the following scenarios are easy with the PressPrimer Quiz triggers, though some may require Automator Pro:

• When a user fails a quiz, enroll them in a remedial course and notify their manager
• When a user passes a course, enroll them in the next course and award an achievement
• When users complete a quiz, log key details to a shared Google Sheet
• When a guest opts in while taking a quiz, add them to your email marketing list or CRM

Troubleshooting

• If recipes aren’t firing, make sure the recipe is live and that the quiz linked to the recipe is in Published status. For the three user triggers, the user must also be logged in; for the guest trigger, the recipe must be an Everyone recipe and the guest must have checked the consent box.
• If actions aren’t running, check the logs under Automator > Logs in /wp-admin/.
