Adding Group Members

Once you’ve created a group, you’ll need to add members. The Educator addon provides flexible options for adding students individually or in bulk.

Members can be managed here in /wp-admin/ or from the Members tab of a group on the front-end Teacher Dashboard. In LearnDash Groups Mode, rosters are read-only in PressPrimer and membership is managed in LearnDash.

Accessing the Members Page

  1. Navigate to PressPrimer Quiz > Groups.
  2. Click on the group name or hover and click Members.

Adding Individual Members

To add a single member:

  1. On the Members page of a group, look for the Add New Member section of Add Members.
  2. Enter the user’s email address. If this is a new user not yet on the WordPress site, enter a First Name and Last Name.
Add new group member
  1. Select a role (Student or Teacher).
  2. Click Create & Add.

If the email address belongs to an existing WordPress user, they will be added to the group immediately. If no user exists with that email, a new WordPress account will be created for them and they will receive a welcome email with login instructions.

Bulk Adding Members

To add multiple members at once:

  1. On the Members page, navigate to the Bulk Add Members section.
  2. Enter email addresses, one per line or separated by commas.
  3. Select the default role for all members being added.
  4. Click Add Members.

The system will process each email address and report how many members were successfully added. Any invalid email addresses or errors will be displayed so you can address them. First and last names cannot be set when users are added in bulk.

Member Roles

Group members can have one of three roles:

  • Student: Can view assigned quizzes and complete them. Cannot manage the group or view other members’ results.
  • Teacher: Can view all group assignments, see member completion status, and access shared question banks. Cannot edit group settings or manage members.
  • Owner: Full control over the group. Set automatically for the user who created the group.

Changing a Member’s Role

  1. On the Members page, find the member in the Current Members list.
  2. Use the role dropdown next to their name to select a new role.
  3. The change is saved automatically.

Note that you cannot change the role of the group owner.

Removing Members

  1. On the Members page, find the member you want to remove.
  2. Click the Remove button (trash icon) next to their name.
  3. Confirm the removal when prompted.

Removing a member removes their group association but does not delete their WordPress account or any quiz attempts they’ve made.

Tips

  • When adding members by email, double-check for typos. An incorrect email will create a new user account that you’ll need to manage separately.
  • For privacy reasons, you cannot search existing users on the WordPress site and add them to groups. You must enter a full email address.
  • Consider using a consistent naming convention for groups that includes the term or year (e.g., “Biology 101 – Spring 2026”) to make organization easier.
