The Data Tools tab under PressPrimer Quiz > Settings provides maintenance tools for your quiz data. The first tool is progress reset, a safe way to remove quiz attempts for a student, a quiz, or both. It works with the premium add-ons too so their related data is cleaned up at the same time.

Reset Scopes

A reset targets exactly one of three scopes:

• By user: Removes all quiz attempts for one user, across every quiz.
• By quiz: Removes all attempts on one quiz, for every user.
• By user + quiz: Removes one user’s attempts on one specific quiz.

Common uses include clearing test attempts after building a quiz, resetting a class at the start of a new term, and giving an individual student a clean start on a specific quiz.

Preview Before Deleting

Every reset starts with a preview. Before anything is deleted, the tool shows exactly how many attempts and answer records match your selection. If premium add-ons are active, their related data is listed as well, such as spaced repetition progress from the School add-on. The preview also flags anything that cannot be undone by the reset itself.

Confirming a Reset

Deletion is permanent, so the tool requires a typed confirmation. Depending on the scope, you type the quiz title or the username to confirm you have selected the right target. The reset then runs in batches with a progress indicator, which keeps large deletions reliable even on quizzes with thousands of attempts.

Resetting from the Quizzes List

You can also start a reset from PressPrimer Quiz > Quizzes. Hover over a quiz and click the Reset attempts row action. This opens Data Tools with that quiz already selected, and the same preview and confirmation steps apply.

Operation Log

Recent reset operations are recorded on the Data Tools tab, including when each reset ran and what it removed. This gives you a quick reference for what has been done on the site.

Important Notes

• Resets are permanent. There is no undo. Always review the preview carefully before confirming.
• xAPI statements cannot be retracted. If the School add-on has already delivered statements to your Learning Record Store, deleting the attempts on your site does not remove the statements from the LRS.
• Audit logs are preserved. With the Enterprise add-on active, the reset itself is recorded in the audit log, and audit records are never deleted by a reset.
