Embeddable Verification Widget

The verification widget is a snippet a partner pastes into their own web page. It renders a verify form, or the live status of one specific credential, in your verification page’s branding, without sending the visitor to your site. A professional association can offer “check a member’s certification” on its own site; a graduate can show a live credential on a portfolio page.

Getting the Snippet

  1. Navigate to Certificates > API Keys and create a key for the partner (see Verification API). Do this first: the snippet carries the key, and keys are shown only once, so the snippet is complete only right after creation. Until then it shows a placeholder.
  2. In Embed the verification widget, choose a mode: Verify form (a credential ID field and a Verify button) or One credential (the status of a single certificate, entered by credential ID).
  3. Click Copy snippet and send it to the partner to paste where they want the widget to appear.
  4. Add the partner page’s origin under Allowed origins (below).

The snippet is a script tag plus a placeholder element carrying the key (and, in One credential mode, the credential ID). It has no framework requirements and works in any page that can include a script.

Allowed Origins

A widget only works on pages whose origin you have allowed. Under Allowed origins, enter the partner page’s address without a path, like https://partner.example, and click Add origin. Browsers refuse requests from any other origin before they are even sent, and a widget on an unlisted page shows that it is not authorized there. Remove an origin to switch its widgets off.

A Key in a Page Is Visible

Anyone who views the source of the partner’s page can read the key in the snippet. That is acceptable by design: the key can only read what the public verification page already shows, it only works from allowed origins, and revoking it stops the widget instantly. Give each partner page its own key so you can revoke one without affecting the rest, and treat a widget key as public in the same way the verification page is public.

What the Visitor Sees

The widget shows the same four outcomes as the verification page, in its colors and wording: a valid certificate with its title, issuer, and issue and expiry dates; an expired certificate; a revoked one; or “No certificate found for that credential ID.” It follows the site-level verification branding from the Branding tab (logo, accent color, intro, and footer), so a partner’s page verifies in your brand. If a page sends too many requests, the widget asks the visitor to wait rather than failing.
