A certificate is worth more when it can be seen. With Educator, recipients get a Share button on their certificate page and in their My Certificates list that adds the credential to their LinkedIn profile, posts it to LinkedIn, X, or Facebook, or copies the link. And when the link is shared anywhere that shows link previews, the preview is an image of the certificate itself.
The Share Button
The button opens a small dialog with the channels you have enabled. It appears only for valid and expired certificates; revoked certificates have no share button, and link previews for them are removed.

Channels
- Add to LinkedIn profile: opens LinkedIn’s “add a certification” form with the fields already filled in: the certificate name, your site as the issuing organization, the issue year, the expiry year when there is one, the credential ID, and the verification URL. The recipient reviews and saves. This is the one most recipients want, because it puts the credential in the Licenses & Certifications section of their profile with a working verification link.
- Share on LinkedIn and Share on X: open the network’s post composer with your share message and the certificate link ready to post.
- Share on Facebook: posts the certificate page link. Facebook does not accept prefilled text by policy, so the recipient writes their own words; the link preview carries the certificate image.
- Copy link: copies the certificate page link for email, a portfolio, or anywhere else.
Every channel opens the network in the recipient’s own browser. The plugin sends nothing to LinkedIn, X, or Facebook itself.
Link Previews
When a certificate page link is pasted into LinkedIn, X, Slack, Discord, iMessage, or anything else that shows link cards, the card shows an image of the certificate (its first page) along with the certificate’s name. The image is generated the first time it is requested and cached; if the certificate is revoked, the image is removed. Generating it needs the GD image library, which nearly every WordPress host provides.
Sharing Settings
Navigate to Certificates > Settings > Sharing:
- Enable sharing: the site-wide switch for the Share button.
- A toggle for each channel, so you can offer LinkedIn without Facebook, or copy link alone.
- Share message: the text that prefills the X and LinkedIn composers, with the certificate link placed on its own line after it. The default is “I earned {subject} from {issuer_name}!”. It accepts
{subject}(the certificate’s display name),{issuer_name}, and{site_name}.
Save with the page’s Save Settings button.
Privacy
Sharing does not make anything public that was not public already. The certificate page and the verification page are reachable by anyone with the link, with or without the add-on, and that is what makes a certificate verifiable. Sharing only makes the link easier to pass along. Recipients who would rather not share simply do not click the button; nothing is posted on their behalf.
