The Settings page controls site-wide defaults for certificate design, email delivery, and data handling. To access settings, sign in as an administrator and visit Certificates > Settings. The settings described below are for the base PressPrimer Certificate plugin.

General

The General tab maps the Verification page. This is the page containing the public verification form that certificate QR codes and links point to. A “Verify Certificate” page is created and assigned automatically when the plugin is activated.

If the assigned page is ever deleted, the plugin shows an admin notice and certificate links will not resolve until you assign a new page here. Any page containing the verification block or the [ppcert_verify] shortcode will work.

Appearance

The Appearance tab holds your site-wide design defaults. Set these once and every new template starts from your brand:

• Certificate size: Letter or A4. New templates default to this size, and the starter gallery leads with it.
• Default font: The font new text elements start with.
• Logo and Signature: Images from your media library. Starter templates place these into their logo and signature slots automatically, and new image and signature elements start from them.
• Brand colors: Primary, Accent, and Text. Starter template artwork recolors itself to your Primary and Accent colors, and text elements default to your Text color.

Changing these defaults later affects new templates and new elements only. Existing templates and issued certificates are never altered.

Email

The Email tab controls the certificate email that is sent to recipients when a certificate is issued. You can enable or disable the email, set the From name and From address, and customize the subject and body using tokens. Certificate merge fields like {{source.course_title}} work here too, so the email can name the exact course or quiz that was completed. Status

The Status tab shows diagnostic information about your installation, including the plugin version, database version, PHP version, and database table health. If database issues are detected, a Repair Tables tool appears that will attempt to correct them.

Advanced

The Advanced tab contains two data-handling settings:

• Event retention: How long anonymous event records (like verification checks and certificate views) are kept before the daily cleanup removes them. The default is 90 days, and the setting accepts 7 to 3650 days. Certificates themselves are never pruned.
• Remove all data on uninstall: When enabled, deleting the plugin permanently removes all plugin tables, certificates, and settings. This option is off by default and, as a safety measure, resets to off every time the plugin is activated. Data removed this way cannot be recovered.
