PressPrimer Assignment

LifterLMS

Important: LifterLMS 8.0 or later is required.

PressPrimer Assignment integrates natively with LifterLMS, the popular WordPress LMS.

Adding an Assignment to a Lesson

PressPrimer assignments are added at the lesson level through a metabox on the lesson edit screen. Create your course and lessons first, then:

  1. Create the course and associated lesson in LifterLMS first.
  2. Edit the lesson. Assignments must be added from the edit lesson page, not the Course Builder.
  1. On the edit lesson page, look for the PressPrimer Assignment metabox. In it, choose the assignment that you want to associate with the lesson.
  1. If users must achieve a passing grade to complete the lesson (recommended), enable Require passing grade to complete lesson.
  2. Click the Save button to save your changes.

Note that in the front end, the PressPrimer assignment will be added between any page content and the navigation added by LifterLMS at the bottom of the page.

Completion Behavior

When “Require passing grade to complete lesson” is checked, the LifterLMS Mark Complete button is hidden until the student passes the assignment. Once the student is graded and receives a passing score, the lesson is automatically marked complete. If all lessons in the course are done, the course is also marked complete.

When the option is unchecked, the assignment is informational only and the Mark Complete button remains available at all times.

If both PressPrimer Quiz and PressPrimer Assignment are attached to the same lesson, both must be passed before the lesson completes.

Course Access and Completion

PressPrimer assignments work with all LifterLMS course types, including open and free courses that do not require enrollment. Non-enrolled users on paid or private courses will not see the assignment.

Permissions

LifterLMS Instructors and Instructor’s Assistants can create and manage their own PressPrimer assignments and grade their students’ submissions. Instructors will only see assignments they have created, while administrators can see all assignments and submissions.

Notes

  • While you can use PressPrimer Assignment shortcodes and blocks on LifterLMS lesson pages to show assignments, doing so will not connect assignment completion to lesson completion. Use the metabox described above to link assignments to LifterLMS lessons if you want passing an assignment to trigger lesson progress.
