The Settings page lets you configure global defaults, email notifications, appearance, and more. These settings apply site-wide and serve as the default for new assignments.
To access settings, sign in as an administrator and visit Assignments > Settings. The settings tabs that are displayed depend on which add-on plugins you have installed. The settings described below are for the base PressPrimer Assignment plugin only; add-on settings are explained in their respective articles.
General Settings
The General tab allows you to configure default values for new assignments. These include the assignment page mapping (used for links in emails), default passing score, maximum file size, and maximum number of files per submission. Anything set here can be overridden at the individual assignment level.

Appearance
The Appearance tab allows you to choose the theme for your assignment forms. Three themes are included: Default, Modern, and Minimal. If PressPrimer Quiz is also installed, we recommend choosing the same theme for both plugins so that quizzes and assignments have a consistent look.
The Email tab controls all email notification settings. PressPrimer Assignment can send three types of automatic emails: submission confirmation (to the student), grade notification (to the student), and new submission alerts (to the administrator). Each email type can be individually enabled or disabled.
For each email type, you can customize the subject line and body text. Inside the body, click tokens from the Available Tokens section to copy them and paste them into the body of your email. Tokens like {first_name}, {assignment_title}, {score}, and {view_url} are replaced with real values when the email is sent.
You can also configure a custom from name, from email address, and upload a logo for the email header. At the bottom of the page, use the Test Email section to send yourself a sample email so you can validate the content and style. Note that some tokens will not be functional in test emails.
Integrations
The Integrations tab shows the status of detected LMS plugins and other integration partners. If a supported LMS plugin is active, the integration features enable automatically. Plugin-specific settings, if available, will appear in this section.
Status
The Status tab shows diagnostic information about your WordPress site, including plugin version, database version, PHP version, upload limits, and database table health. If database issues are detected, you will see a Repair Tables tool that will attempt to correct them.
This tab also reports on file handling capabilities, such as whether the finfo extension is available for MIME type detection and whether the ZipArchive extension is available for DOCX preview.
Advanced Settings
Use the Advanced tab to enable or disable the option to remove all plugin records, tables, and uploaded files when you uninstall and delete the plugin. Note that data removed in this way cannot be recovered.
